Tropical Cyclone Sean

Tropical cyclone Sean has developed along the Pilbara coast. TC Sean developed to a category 4 tropical cyclone and is moving to the southwest and away from the coast. Tc Sean is forecast to deteriate as it travels away from the coast.

Headline:

Severe Tropical Cyclone Sean, category 3 continues to move away from the far west Pilbara and weaken.

Watch zone: None.

Cancelled zones: None.

Details of Severe Tropical Cyclone Sean 11U at 2:00 pm AWST:

Intensity: category 3, sustained winds near the centre of 120 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 165 kilometres per hour.

Location: within 35 kilometres of 24.9 degrees South, 108.7 degrees East , 570 kilometres west southwest of Ningaloo and 500 kilometres west of Carnarvon .

Movement: south southwest at 18 kilometres per hour .

Severe Tropical Cyclone Sean is located well west southwest of Ningaloo and continuing to move southwest, away from the WA coast. Sean is expected to weaken below tropical cyclone strength by Thursday morning.

Hazards:

Severe Tropical Cyclone Sean is no longer expected to cause any direct impacts to the WA mainland, as it continues to move to the southwest well offshore.
