Intensity: category 2, sustained winds near the centre of 95 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 130 kilometres per hour.
Location: within 55 kilometres of 18.9 degrees South, 91.3 degrees East , 950 kilometres southwest of Cocos Island .
Movement: east southeast at 11 kilometres per hour .
Tropical Cyclone Marian is expected to continue gradually weakening and track to the southeast over the central Indian Ocean.
Details of Severe Tropical Cyclone Marian at 2:00 pm AWST:
Tropical Cyclone Marian continues to slowly intensify as it moves away from the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
Intensity: category 3, sustained winds near the centre of 150 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 205 kilometres per hour.
Location: within 35 kilometres of 17.9 degrees South, 90.0 degrees East , 970 kilometres southwest of Cocos Island and 1890 kilometres west southwest of Christmas Island .
Movement: west southwest at 7 kilometres per hour .
Severe Tropical Cyclone Marian will continue tracking slowly to the southwest over the Indian Ocean this evening. On Tuesday it is expected to start moving to the southeast and start a gradual weakening trend.
